School Employee's Christmas Bonuses Cause a Stir

It was no doubt a welcome addition to the holidays for employees of the Baldwin-Woodville School District, which is west of Eau Claire, but they are causing quite a stir.

An investigation is being sought after the school board gave 200 employees $500 Christmas bonuses.

The Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty and CRG Network have filed a formal complaint, saying the school board in Saint Croix county violated the open meetings law.

This is because they are accused of meeting in a closed session to grant the bonuses.

1st of all, it is not the Gov.'s fault nor any Republican or Democrats fault that this happened. It is the fault of the school board that made that decision. I am so saddened when I think of all of the schools that are doing without basics and losing staff, and this district uses it's money for bonuses? You should all be ashamed. Yes, I'm sure if it was me getting the bonus, I would be thrilled and I'm sure those people were. That doesn't make it right. And no, I am not a teacher or state employee and I am not jealous. People all need to be held accountable.

everyone is hung up on Walkers recall. and we have this western Wisc school board giving the ok on this. People!!!! you need to get your priorities in order!!!

This is a good trickle down economic idea. This should jump start the local economy for the area. Good job my fellow republicans.

How sad that the kids have to suffer, and the tax payers must be paying and paying just so the teachers have a bonus!!! I work for a school district and we did not get a bonus! This is why I stand with Scott Walker he is trying to make it better for us all. Sad!

Must have needed the extra cash to support their drug habit. Now when they don't have money to buy text books they will have to go aske the taxpayer for more money to support education...or hand out a bonus again next year.

The Republicans voted to treat the public sector employees like the private sector employees - again the Republicans are hypocrites as bonuses are part of the capitalist ssytem.

unbelievable!! 200 employees at $500 each!!! this school district should have all board members and employees looking for other jobs. Other districts over Wisconsin are eliminating postions,and closing schools. I would be sick to my stomach in recieving a bonus and then to keep it. sounds like St Croix county needs a recall election rather than Wisconsin!
