It's a call no parent wants to receive. Tuesday morning a school bus taking Mosinee elementary and middle school students to school rolled over.
It happened on Cisewski Road. The bus was trying to move over as another car coming from the opposite direction approached. But because the ground was so soft on the shoulder, its wheels got stuck in the mud.
"The bus was going at a slow rate of speed at that particular point," said Supt. Jerry Rosso with the Mosinee School District. "This was not a situation where students were flung about. This is a situation that was a fairly gradual situation."
All 13 student passengers and their driver were not injured.
Parents were called immediately and a letter describing what happened was sent home.
The Marathon Co. Sheriff's Dept. responded to the scene and another bus from Burnett Transit picked the students up for school.
The driver passed a mandatory drug and alcohol test immediately following the incident.
The superintendent says students' safety is the district's top priority and Tuesday served as a good learning experience in dealing with school bus incidents.
