Salvation Army Bell Ringer Goes For World Record
The Salvation Army officially kicks off their Red Kettle Campaign this weekend and one Marshfield man is looking to break records.
Timm Mews has been standing at Festival Foods in Marshfield ringing his bell for 48 hours. He's attempting to set a Guinness World Record for bell ringing. The current record is 51 hours. Timm's goal is 52 hours. But he says what he's doing is about more than just the record.
"It's not about the record. I mean, the record would be the icing on the cake, but the two main things in my heart are that I want to support a good cause and the Salvation Army, you can't get any better. I mean, every pot, no matter where you live, the money in that pot stays in that community. The other thing is this Christmas cheer. I mean they love to help. Everybody wants to help," Mews told NewsChannel 7.
In order for his record attempt to count, Timm has to abide by 4 rules. One, he has to keep ringing the bell. Two, he has to stand. Three, he can't eat or drink anything with caffeine. And four, he can only take a ten minute bathroom break every four hours.
When we spoke to Timm earlier, he said he was confident he would make it to the 52 hour mark which is at 10:00pm Saturday night.
