In today's economy it's hard to borrow money much less give it away. But one local business is doing just that.

River Valley Bank in Wausau is giving away $7,000 to a person, family or organization who is in need through their "Community for a Cause" program.

The six finalists are:
• Young-Parkinson’s
• Shared Blessings
• Wheels to Work
• HMONG
• Northwood’s Children’s Museum
• Northwood’s Wildlife

Ellie Reineck, Director of Sales and Marketing, says the response from the public has been overwhelmingly positive.

"This is really a unique thing for you guys to do. We haven't seen anybody in our local communities do something like this. Seven thousand dollars is a lot of money just to give away without a lot of stipulations." Reineck said.

To nominate someone all you have to do is upload a short video to the bank's YouTube or Facebook page.

Voting will be open to the public on July 9th and close July 27th.

Winners will be announced July 30th.

The top prize is $5,000. The runners up will each get $1,000.
