Rib Mountain Fire Dept. Puts Out Truck Fire Before Tank Explodes

The Rib Mountain Fire Department quickly put out a Schwan's truck that was on fire before it reached a 30,000 gallon propane tank Sunday night.

According to dispatch reports, a call went out around 8 p.m. that a truck was on fire at 1206 Cloverland Lane.

Rib Mountain Fire along with the Marathon County Sheriff's Department arrived on scene and scrambled to quickly extinguish the flames.

Shortly after, firefighters inspected the vehicle to make sure the fire was put out. There was concern that it would spread towards the propane tank, but it was controlled quickly.

A cause of the fire is unknown and there have been no reports of injuries.

The Rib Mountain Fire Department is investigating.
