While many are enjoying a holiday barbecue during an extra day off, others are already back to the grind.
Firefighters and EMTs at the Rib Mountain Fire Department went in as usual this Labor Day.
Emergencies can happen anytime, that's why those who respond to them are always ready, holiday or not.
"We provide service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year so no matter what holiday it is or what day of the week it is or anything we have to be here regardless," said Marc Hill, a firefighter and EMT.
But this holiday, the firefighters were given a special treat in appreciation of what they do.
The sales manager and a server from Olive Garden in Rib Mountain dropped off a hot meal.
"It's important to serve the people that serve us," Sales Manager Benjamin Hoff said.
It's part of the national chain's effort to deliver and serve lunch to firefighters, police, and hospital staff on Labor Day.
