Wouldn’t it be great to see kids solve problems by helping each other? It’s happening at one area school.

Students at Rib Mountain Elementary got to see 12 of their fellow classmates get sworn to be peer mediators by a judge.

Their job is to help others resolve conflicts in a peaceful way. The school guidance counselor says it is something the students look forward to all year.

Rib Mountain Elementary Guidance Counselor, Ken Krouse says, "They are all hoping to be a peer mediator one day. It’s been around for awhile and they all know what it is. It is pretty exciting for them to see and to be one of the selected students.."

The school has been holding the peer mediation program for 13 years. Marathon County Judge Greg Grau has sworn in every one of the groups.

The student mediators will now get to work helping other students in the classroom. They will also be helping staff whenever needed.
