Kids in New York are getting some help from elementary students in Wisconsin, while one teacher got a hair cut.
Fifth grade teacher Brad Schmicker agreed to shave his head if the students at Rib Mountain Elementary could raise $500 to help relief efforts for Superstorm Sandy. At an assembly Tuesday morning, he was true to his word.
In just the past week the students collected $915.61, all in coins.
It didn't take long for Schmicker to shave his head and beard to the delight of the student body.
The money and several boxes of school supplies will benefit Public School 15 in Red Hook, Brooklyn, which was among the 57 schools heavily damaged last month by the storm.
Administrators from PS 15 were able to watch the assembly via facetime.
