Luckily for runners and spectators, the rain held out for the 8th annual Hodag Run for Your Life in Rhinelander today. Runners of all ages filled the streets hoping to catch the elusive Hodag.
The YMCA of Northwoods hosts the event every year. Proceeds go to the Y's annual support campaign, which makes sure no one is turned away from the YMCA because they can't pay.
Alyssa Price has been running every year since she can remember, and says last year was her first year sitting out. "I've done it for a few years in the past. Except for last year, and I regretted not doing it so I came back this year," said Price.
The race started at 9 a.m., and ended an hour and a half later with an awards ceremony at Stevensport Square. Runners chose from a 5K run/walk or a 10K run. All the winners received a custom Hodag medal.
