A 17-year-old Rhinelander teen convicted of stabbing his mother and mother's boyfriend will spend five months in jail and four years on extended supervision.
Wednesday in Oneida County Circuit Court, Michael Thimm reached a plea deal with the prosecutor, avoiding a jury trial.
According to a Rhinelander newspaper, Thimm became upset after his mother's boyfriend during an argument over internet use. Investigators say Thimm stabbed the boyfriend and then stabbed his mom when she tried to intervene.
Thimm told police he did not intend to injury his mother, but did intend to kill her boyfriend. Both victims received non-life threatening injuries, however, Thimm's mother did required surgery for a wound to her neck.
The stabbing happened at a home on the 500 block of Spring Lake Road in Rhinelander on December 12, 2012.
Thimm will receive credit for 22 days already spent in jail.
