RACINE, Wis. (AP) -- Authorities are asking for the public's help in locating a 2-year-old child whose mother was found dead at their home in Racine.
Police believe the girl is with her father, 25-year-old Iryin Vaughn. Investigators say he left the home with the child, Iryana Vaughn, shortly before officers were called there about 11 p.m. Tuesday.
Law enforcement has issued emergency child abduction alert called an Amber Alert. Racine Sgt. Marvin Pavilonis says Vaughn is from the Chicago area and may be headed there. Pavilonis says Vaughn is a person of interest in the death of the child's mother. He says the death of the 27-year-old woman is being investigated as a homicide.
Police say the father and child may be in a 1998 blue Ford Explorer with the Illinois license plate L320-893.
