The suspect in what prosecutors call a case of "severe domestic violence" is due back in court next week.
That's when a judge is scheduled to rule if there's enough evidence for Michael Speirs to stand trial.
The 29-year-old Wausau man faces multiple charges including false imprisonment and strangulation.
A Rothschild Police incident report said he dragged his girlfriend 20-to-25 feet down Weston Avenue in Rothschild with a car when her hand was stuck in the driver's side window.
The report also said he flicked cigarette ashes in her mouth and threatened her with a screwdriver in front of her 8-year-old son.
Police said at one point, the car they were in hit speeds of 90 mph.
Prosecutors said the victim is OK.
Speirs is in jail on a $10,000 bond.
