Preps Underway for Nekoosa's Giant Pumpkin Fest

Set up has already begun for the 15th annual Giant Pumpkin Fest held October 6 and 7 in Nekoosa. According to the event's Facebook page, over the weekend markers were put in place for parking.

Growers from across the state will travel to Nekoosa to weigh their giant pumpkins for the international competition. Fall produce such as squash and watermelons will also be weighed.

The event also features a giant pumpkin drop, giant pumpkin carver, the pumpkin bake-off, pumpkin pie eating contest, along with a craft show, flea market, and an antique tractor show.

Giant Pumpkin Fest is held at the Nekoosa Business Park from 9 am to 4 pm both days.

The Nekoosa Giant Pumpkin Fest is held at the Nekoosa Business Park, which is located on the corner of Highway 173 and County Road G in Nekoosa. Entrants will enter the park using the Highway 173 entrance. Just watch for the signs.

Cost is $3 and children 10 and under are free.

Parking is $5 on site or you can park at Nekoosa area schools and take the complimentary pumpkin shuttle bus for free.

To register your fruit at the Fest, you must be on site and in line to register by 10 am on October 6.
