WPS says power is restored for most residents in our area. The outage is said to be blamed on a failure at the Morrison St. Substation.

NewsChannel 7's crew at the scene in Rib Mountain reports electricity started to come back on before 10:30pm Tuesday night. Various posters to the NewsChannel 7 Facebook page also said their electricty had come back on. But WPSC's website still reported nearly 11,000 people in the dark.
WPS says their crews have identified an issue in their Morrison Street substation causing the outages. Their crews will work through the night into the morning to restore power to everyone.
The latest estimated time for restored power from WPS is 1:30 AM.
A voice message on a Wisconsin Public Service Corp. telephone line blames a massive power outage in the Wausau area on equipment failure at a substation.
They say they have crews working on it and now estimate power could be restored by 1:30am Wednesday.
WPSC's website confirms 10,932 customers were in the dark.
The Marathon County Sheriff''s Department tells NewsChannel 7 the outage effects Wausau, Rib Mountain, Schofield, Kronenwetter and Rothschild.
You may want to leave your refrigerator and freezer closed to preserve food if the electricity stays out for several hours.
