Motorists on Wausau's northwest side are being asked to find an alternate route beginning March 11 as road crews will close a portion of County Highway U.
The city of Wausau says the closure is necessary to install gas utilities.
County Highway U from Highway 51 to Westwood Drive will be closed to through traffic beginning Monday for about a week.
Westbound traffic on Highway U will be detoured south on Highway 51, west on Bridge Street, north on Westwood Drive to County Highway U. Eastbound traffic on County Highway U will be detoured south on Westwood Drive, east on Bridge Street, and north on Highway 51 to County Highway U.
