Plover Man Accused of Selling Stolen Property on Craigslist

A Plover man is facing numerous charges including theft and burglary after he's accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of recreational and utility equipment to sell on Craigslist.

According to the criminal complaint, the alleged victims contacted Plover Police in June to report the thefts of several items including a boat, snowmobile trailer, two snowblowers, a lawnmower, and an ATV trailer and plow.

According to court documents, the boat alone was valued at $10,000.

In September, Police learned the suspect maybe trying to sell the items on Craigslist. Police made arrangements to purchase a trolling motor for a boat that looked similar to an item that had been stolen from one of the alleged victims in June.

The alleged victim told police the remote for the motor had not been stolen from his property and the remote is calibrated to the trolling motor via an ID number unique to each motor.

Police say the remote from the alleged victim did operate the motor from the seller.

Following the execution of a search warrant, the seller, later identified as Mark Christensen III, was taken into custody.

According to court documents during the search of the seller's home, investigators found marijuana and prescription drugs that did not belong to him.

Police say Christensen admitted to going to the Plover property on June 8 and June 13 and taking the items. Some of the items including the boat were recovered, however Christensen admitted to selling and trading some of the other stolen property.

Christensen is free on a $10,000 signature bond and will return to court Dec. 16 to learn if his case will head to trial.
