A 35-year-old Weston man charged with training animals to fight, and mistreating an animal resulting in death, along with several counts related to illegal betting and gambling could reach a plea deal with prosecutors.
Bee Her had been under investigation for various criminal activity including cockfighting, illegal gambling and a possible prostitution ring at his Schofield business. The Everest Metro Police Department tells NewsChannel they received an anonymous letter more than one year ago requesting investigators look into what was going on at Video and Games, located 908 Grand Avenue in Schofield.
In January, an informant told police Her had other illegal gambling machines in St. Paul, and also believed Her had been buying methamphetamine in the twin cities to sell in Wausau.
According to court documents officers executed a search warrant at Her's home. Inside they say they found more than $6,000, numerous firearms, and 25 hens. A veterinarian's report stated the birds had evidence of feather loss and strike injury. Photos also depicted blood splatters on the enclosures, resulting in criminal charges.
Her was scheduled to head to trial August 15. The August 15 court date now shows it is a plea hearing.
