A new restaurant could call Rib Mountain home.

Dan Dziadosz, Building Administrator tells NewsChannel 7, Tuesday night the town did approve the recommendation by the planning commission for a Panda Express. The franchise restaurant serves American Chinese cuisine.

Dziadosz says the property owner still needs to close on the sale of the land at 4400 Rib Mountain Drive. That block is the site of the Wendy's restaurant that burned down last October. The building has since been razed.

Construction could begin as early as this year, pending zoning approval and a state building permit.

The neighboring 4500 block of Rib Mountain drive will host two new business this year, with HuHot Mongolian Grill set to open this summer along with a Dunkin' Donuts.
