Pull on your jerseys and hats and hit the road; it's time to cheer on the green and gold. Before the Packers take Lambeau field, thousands of fans gather in the parking lot to tailgate.
Planning a tailgate might seem easy but you definitely need some Wisconsin staples if you want to have the perfect Packers party.
"First and foremost, we obviously need the Packers," says Red Eye Brewery owner and head brewer Kevin Eichelberger. "But we also need great craft beer."
For some tailgaters, it's more about the food.
"I like of different cheeseburgers, brats - lots of brats," says Beth Schaefer from the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board. "A staple for any Packers tailgate, you got to have cheese curds."
For others, the company you keep makes the the tailgate.
"To have the perfect Packers tailgate, you need to grab a growler or two of Red Eye beer," says Sandy Beam from Wausau. "You also need lots of food and some good friends."
If you want to concentrate on the beverage part of the tailgate, here's a quick tip.
"An IPA pairs nice with some cheddar cheese curds," says Eichleberger.
If you want to to tailor your tailgating menu to your tastes a little more, the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board has a tool on their website, EatWisconsinCheese.com, where you can put in your favorite beer or other drink and it gives you the perfect cheeses, meats and vegetables to pair with it.
Win or lose, Packers fans believe in the team and always find a reason to celebrate.
