A 56-year-old Plainfield man will spend three years in prison and four years on extended supervision following his 9th conviction for drinking and driving.
John Hutchens was sentenced September 30. Hutchens reached a plea deal with prosecutors in May. As result a charge of 9th offense OWI was dismissed. He was convicted of operating with a prohibited alcohol concentration, 9th offense.
According to court documents Hutchens was arrested July 16, 2011 following a traffic stop. He reportedly told deputies he had drank three cans of beer. A preliminary breath alcohol test preformed during the traffic stop show he had a BAC of .170. Due to prior OWI convictions, Hutchen may not have a BAC over .02.
Hutchens first OWI conviction was in August 1990.
