It’s a good day to stay inside, and that's exactly what dozens of people did today. They took to stationary bikes for three straight hours, all to raise money for a good cause.
More than a hundred people took to stationary bikes for three hours today, to pedal it forward.
It’s the fifth year for the event. Each rider can either ride individually or as a team.
The participants work to raise money for the event throughout the year. While you might think riding a stationary bike for three hours is grueling, for those who did it, the hard work was worth it.
YMCA Health and Wellness Coordinator, Melani Lemanski, today we are running our event, Pedal It Forward and it’s to help out community partners campaign which is a campaign that helps low income families and children who would love to try and get into some the camps that the YMCA has to offer for a healthy lifestyle.”
Organizers say this was their biggest one yet, bringing in more than 100 hundreds riders to help raise money for the cause. The money each cyclist raises will be used to help low income families gain access to organizations, like the YMCA, to help better their lives and prepare them for the real world.
Organization leaders say the money that comes in from the event is crucial to their success, and allowing kids who wouldn’t usually get access to team sports and other events, to do so
