Story from WIBW-TV in Kansas:
Packer Jordy Nelson often comes through for his team in big moments. Now, the wide receiver is getting props for helping a family who lost their home to a fire.
Nelson--a Kansas native--and teammate Randall Cobb were in the Sunflower State Sunday for a charity event when they noticed smoke.
The smoke was coming from the home of Brad Barnes, superintendent of the local Riley County School District--Jordy Nelson's alma mater.
The home was up in flames, and the players rushed to the scene to help.
Although much of the home was destroyed, Nelson spent Monday helping sort through the rubble to salvage what was left.
Investigators believe an electrical short is to blame for the fire.
