The heat and humidity are having a serious effect on people who have to work outside.
For them, they can't help but be under the scorching hot sun, they've just learned how to stay safe.
According to our meteorolgists, this week's stretch of weather is in the top five of all-time consecutive days of heat and humidity.
Monday's high temperature in Wausau was 93 degrees, but it felt like 106.
Several workplaces require their workers to be outside in order to do their jobs, including postal workers, firefighters and lifeguards. Lifeguards are taking more frequent breaks and spending less time out in the sun.
For them and everyone else, emergency crews want you to remember to drinks lots of appropriate fluids.
"We want you to hydrate constantly, consistently, water is always the best choice," said Weston Fire Department Chief Steve Meilahan. "You'd probably want to stay away from sodas, you'd want to absolutely stay away from alcoholic beverages, but just get plenty of water, all day long."
It's going to feel like this all week and even continue through the weekend. The first time we might see some comfortable temperatures again is next Monday.
The extreme heat is causing at least one Wausau soccer league to cancel its games Monday night and some other outdoor programs have been canceled midweek.
Best bet, call ahead.
