The Eagle River Chamber of Commerce said their National Championship Musky Open set a number of records, including the first female winner in the tournament's existence.
The tournament was won by Michelle Peplinski of Bear Creek, WI with a catch of 4 muskies - 36.5”, 37”, 37” and 40” for a total of 150.5 inches.
The tournament was held August 16 – 18 on seven lake families in the Eagle River area.
The chamber said there were 1222 musky anglers representing 15 states that entered the tournament – breaking the 2012 record of 1111 tournament anglers.
This year 219 muskies caught and released, breaking the 2012 record of 198 muskies caught and released.
This tournament is a total catch and release tournament open to ages 8 and older.
