One person facing a charge of possession of cocaine after a search was conducted Thursday morning a home on the 900 block of North 10th Avenue in Wausau.
The Wausau Police Department and Marathon County Sheriff's Department executed a search warrant regarding illegal drug activity at the home.
Lieutenant Matt Barnes of the Wausau Police Department said there was evidence of drug trafficking and dealing as well as illegal paraphernalia. He says as part of the investigation they expect multiple people to be charged with drug offenses.
Neighbors in the area expressed concerns about drug activity to neighborhood alderperson Karen Kellbach. They then brought their concerns to the attention of law enforcement.
Officials say as a result they have increased enforcement in the area.
"It's important that residents know that working with the police department those areas can get cleaned up," says Kellbach.
The name of the suspect has not being released.
