At approximately 1:27 a.m. on Sunday morning, Portage County Sheriff’s Deputies, Plover Police, Plover EMS and Fire, and Portage County Rapid Response Unit and Ambulance responded to a motorcycle crash and fire on Highway 54.

The Portage County Sheriff's Department say, Jonas T. Marshall, 22, of Oshkosh, died as result of his injuries.

According to a press release, the investigation shows the Marshall was traveling eastbound on Highway 54 east of Coolidge Ave. Tire tracks show that the motorcycle left the roadway and struck a mailbox. The cycle continued along a ditch before coming to a rest and becoming fully engulfed.

Marshall was ejected from the cycle and ended up in the ditch. The man died from his injuries at the scene of the crash.

The Portage County Sheriff’s office says speed and alcohol were likely contributing factors.
