For more than a year, family and friends have been searching for 56 year old Sandra Schinke. She went missing at her rural Sayner home on April 5th of last year.
Even though there has been no sign of Sandra, her family is still holding out hope that she is alive and well-somewhere.
The past year has been one of the most difficult Sandra’s two sisters say they've ever had to deal with. What makes it even harder is that they still don't know if their sister is ok, and don't have any idea what happened to her.
Last April, Sandra’s husband was out of town working. Each night the two would talk on the phone and keep in close contact. On April 5th, Sandra never answered her husband's call. That prompted him to call the Vilas County Sheriff's Department to go and check on Sandra and the home the couple shared. Once the deputies got to the home, there was no sign of Sandra.
The house was still locked and her cell phone, keys, purse and car were all still at the home.
After days of searching, Sandra was listed as a missing person with no clues of her whereabouts.
A year later, sadly not much has changed says Sandra’s sister Dawn Mitchell.
"We are still just trying to keep her name out there. We believe there is somebody who must have seen or done something. We want to keep her name out there that we are still looking. We want to hear any thought or idea."
Mitchell says that Sandra’s father passed away in the time since she's been missing. She says her father died not knowing what happened to his daughter.
To keep her in their thoughts, the family always wears purple ribbons, Sandra’s favorite color.
Sandra’s family says they are still asking the public for their help. Sandra was 5 foot 3 inches tall and weighed right around 160 pounds. She was last seen with brown hair and brown eyes and is in her late 50s.
If you have any information about where Sandra might be, you are asked to contact the Vilas County Sheriff's Department. You can remain anonymous.
