UPDATE: Stevens Point Drug Bust Suspect Pleads Not Guilty

A Milwaukee County man is charged in connection to a drug bust late last month in Portage County has pleaded not guilty.

According to a news release, on Jan. 25 around 1 pm, officers from three Portage County departments arrested two suspects in the Stevens Point Fleet Farm parking lot.

A 21-year-old suspect was released after questioning and will not be charged. However, deputies say 22-year-old Joseph Manthei of Saukville, was in possession of 104 grams of a suspected drug refereed to as “M1”, a combination of meth and ecstasy, according to police. Officers also found $5,000 in the suspect's vehicle.

Manthei is charged with with falsely presenting a noncontrolled substance, manufacturing LSD, possession of amphetamine, and possession with the intent to sell drugs.

He's currently behind bars on a $20,000 cash bond.
