The Kronenwetter Police Department says Jason Rasmussen has resigned.

According to a press release, the investigation began April 8 when a woman, who identified herself as a prostitute, said officer Jason Rasmussen was her client.

Destinee Doonan, 19, told investigators one of the alleged incidents occurred at the Kronenwetter Police Department.

Rasmussen had previously been on paid leave pending the outcome of the investigation. He was arrested by the Wausau Police Department April 10 on suspicion of soliciting a prostitute, and could face the same charge in Brown County after allegations a crime was also committed there.

Doonan and Rasmussen are both facing three misdemeanor counts of prostitution in Marathon County. Rasmussen is facing an additional count of encouraging a probation violation.

No future court dates have yet been set for either party.
