The Lincoln County Sheriff's Department said the number of car-deer crashes has gone up considerably.

They received reports of 15 crashes involving deer last week--- one of those crashes caused traffic to be slowed for about a hour on US Hwy 51 in the Town of Scott Friday night. The department as a driver swerved to avoid a deer, the trailer he was towing started to come up off the ground causing the boat it was towing to launch off the trailer.

Deputies controlled traffic as a wrecker service worked to remove the boat and trailer.

Two bear were struck and killed in separate crashes last week.
The department says, Wednesday a bear was struck by a Mequon man and killed on US Hwy 51 just north of County Rd G in the Town of Merrill.

And Saturday, a second bear was found dead just north of that location near County Rd K.
