The Town of Hamburg Fire Department says they responded to a garage collapse around 12:15 p.m. Monday. The department said the collapse is believed to have been caused by the weight of heavy snow.
The initial reported stated the incident was called in by a neighbor who said it was so loud it was believed to have been an explosion.
Neighbor, Ida Sessions called in the report. She says she witnessed it as she was out getting the mail.
"I seen the snow come off, and I thought, oh heck, that ain't too bad. Then all of a sudden I heard a big bang and everything just flew. That scared the heck out of me so I don't know what to think,” she explains.
The incident happened on the 300 block of Washington Drive.
According to dispatch reports, no one was home at the time. The extent of damage is unknown.
