One of the state's largest cable TV providers willl make the switch to an all-digital signal Tuesday, July 15 during an upgrade in the Wausau area. Across Wisconsin, the project will continue through mid-August with various communities transitioning to an all-digital network on a rolling basis.
Tuesday's upgrade will affect Charter customers in Wausau, Marathon, Edgar, Kronenwetter, Mosinee, Hatley, Merrill, Rothschild, Schofield and Weston. Charter customers all ready receiving a digital signal may only notice a change in the channel lineup.
•WSAW-TV NewsChannel 7 went from from ch. 4 to ch. 7.
• QVC went from ch. 7 to ch. 4.
• MyTV will move from ch. 969 to ch. 194
• 24/7 Weather moves from ch. 968 to ch. 193
The first digital HD box per household will be free for 12 months. Additional boxes will be $6.99 per month.
If you already have Charter-issued digital equipment (set-top box or CableCARD) on all of your TVs, you don't need to do anything for the all-digital upgrade. However, if you have TVs that are connected directly to Charter service without digital equipment, you will lose access to Charter on those TVs.
