A 21-year-old Marshfield man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend last September, and also accused of attempting to hire his cellmate to kill his slain ex-girlfriend's boyfriend has pleaded not guilty to the newest charge.

According to the criminal complaint obtained by NewsChannel 7, on January 7 while behind bars in the Wood County Jail, Gabriel Campos offered another inmate $4,600, a car and an AK47 as payment to carry out the deal.

Maisie McCullough, 18, was found dead in the bathtub of Campos' mother's home in Marshfield on Sept. 7. An autopsy shows she died from a 5 inch-long slit in her neck that was made by a serrated knife. McCullough also suffered another smaller stab wound to her throat, as well as one in her back and several on her hands.

Campos was arrested at a Wis. Rapids Motel 6 the next day with their 2-year-old son, who was unharmed.

Marshfield police say that Campos had blood on his legs and in his car, and a blood-covered knife in his car that had both his and McCullough's DNA on it.

A trial date has been set in June for McCullough's murder. A pre-trial has been set in May for the latest charge.
