The allegations against a Rothschild woman are every parent's worst nightmare.
Jennifer Cronin, 19, is charged with child abuse after a “nanny-cam” caught what appears to be the woman being physically rough with a then-four-month-old baby.
According to a criminal complaint, the father of the child became concerned Cronin was not paying enough attention to his children, the infant and a two-year-old, after the two-year-old hit his head on a pole in the basement during Cronin's care.
The father said he periodically checked the camera but didn't come across anything unusual until March 1. That's when he said the footage showed Cronin slapping the infant in the head so violently the child's head moved. According to the criminal complaint, the footage also showed Cronin picking the child up my the wrist, swinging him above her head by the wrist, and slapping him in the face with a burp cloth.
The criminal complaint states Cronin had begun babysitting for the family when the infant was nine weeks old and typically babysat three days a week.
Jennifer Cronin is free on a $5,000 signature bond. She'll return to court April 25th to find out if her case will head to trial.
