UPDATED: Tue 11:16 AM, Jul 02, 2013

Inattentive driving and speeding are believed to be factors in a crash that killed 57-year-old Stratford woman on Monday.

The crash is still under investigation, but a Lieutenant with the Marathon County Sheriff's Department says the chain reaction crash occurred when vehicle number 1 was traveling southbound on highway 97.
As the vehicle slowed down to make a turn, vehicle number 2 did see the slowing truck in time and hit it in the rear-end corner. That vehicle was then sent into the northbound lane of traffic where it was struck by pick-up truck number 3 in the front corner and side.

The lieutenant says at that time a mini-van driven by the victim was traveling behind truck number 3, and ended up hitting vehicle number 2 head on.

The victim's' name is expected to be released Tuesday evening.
