Some artists have a muse for inspiration, and Kristin Landowski's is her mother.
As her mom battles breast cancer, Kristin has been hard at work creating dozens of bottles and bowls.
Her new exhibit "Cancer Bowl" is a series of bowls that will be sold to benefit breast cancer patients. She says her mother's strength inspired her to help others find courage during tough times.
"Cancer doesn't stop...everyone knows someone who has had it," Kristin says. She continues, "It is really important to try and reach out and help other people even if it is in a small way."
Landowski had another exhibit to accompany the bowls..this one is called "The Delicacy Within."
The artist created bottles that she says represent different people. Each form is made of porcelain and glazed to create a fogged effect.
Landowski wanted both exhibits to have a family theme. Family pictures, her mother's dresser, and antique gloves are included in the gallery. She says they're there to make visitors feel supported and welcome when they're viewing her exhibit.
An opening reception for the exhibit will take place tomorrow night from 5-8pm.
Landowski's mother is still undergoing cancer treatment.
