Digging through other people's trash may not seem like a lot of fun to most of us, but Mosinee High School students spent their morning doing just that.

The project is called a waste sort and it's a way for students to see how much stuff gets tossed that could be recycled.

IROW Waste and Recycling dumped newly picked trash from nearby homes in Mosinee High School's rec center parking lot. Members of Mosinee High School's Green Team and other volunteers from around the city then sorted through the trash.

The city says that this newly created project could point out how valuable recycling education and other programs to promote recycling are.

The city clerk says that Mosinee could save more than $4,000 a year if residents would begin to choose to recycle.
