More teens are smoking marijuana and turning away from cigarettes and alcohol, according to a survey from the National Institute on Drug Abuse.
Wausau police officers said they agree with the survey. One officer said they always see alcohol use, but this year they have seen an increase in teens smoking marijuana.
They've seen it come in forms that attract younger adults.
Maureen Pilsner said, "what we normally see is marijauana that would be smoked, but this year we even had candy that they had taken and made it into hard candy and had it at Wausau West.
She added they were selling it for about $5.
Pilsner said, that it's been easy for teens to get illegal substances because K2, the synthetic form of marijuana, was legal in Wisconsin in the past, and they can probaly still find it on the internet.
