FOND DU LAC, Wis. (AP) -- A 71-year-old Sheboygan Falls man who was windsurfing on Lake Winnebago was found dead shortly after his gear washed up on shore.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office says it got a call Saturday afternoon about a missing windsurfer. The rig had washed up on shore, and officials with a windsurfing company were going out on the lake to look for the man.

Boats and dive teams from the sheriff's office helped with the search. The Coast Guard also searched with a boat and helicopter.

About an hour and half later, the man's body was found about 300 yards from shore, and he was pronounced dead.

The man's name is not being released at this time. Officials say he was not wearing a life jacket.
