A 42-year-old Minocqua woman is facing fraud charges after she and her husband are accused of not properly reporting their income and receiving food stamp benefits they didn't qualify for.
Court documents say Sherri Gibbs had been lying about her income since 2007 to receive public assistance.
According to the criminal complaint, Sherri Gibbs was on disability due to an ongoing medical condition. Investigators learned she had been running a DJ service and was being paid in cash not reporting the income.
Sherri said including herself, six people lived in the household. At point the family was receiving $900 in food assistance.
Sherri's husband, Steven said during 2012 he estimated his income to be $25,000 to $28,000. However financial records subpoenaed from June 2012 to July 2013 indicate Steven Gibbs made $37,000 from just a few contracting jobs. Investigators believe they are not aware of all the jobs Stevens Gibbs had been doing.
Sherri Gibbs is free on $2,500 signature bond. She'll return to court on December 2.
