A 25-year-old Milwaukee man is behind bar on a $1 million cash bond after he's accused of causing the death of a five-year-old boy.
Darrell Rogers was charged with first-degree reckless homicide in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Friday.
According to WDJT-TV, the child's mother left her son in Rogers care on Nov. 26. She told police that she stopped home for about 45 minutes during her break at 6 p.m. that evening and that her son was fine. Before she left, Rogers told her that she would help the boy with his homework, give him a shower, feed him and put him to bed.
The woman said she returned home from work around 10:30 p.m. And her son was in bed. Rogers said the boy slipped in the shower but the woman said she did not see feel any injuries on the boy's head.
The woman said when she went to wake the boy up the next morning, he was deceased.
The autopsy report has not been released, but the criminal complaint obtained by WDJT said the investigators say the boy had numerous bruises, contusions and lacerations.
The doctor said the boy, Damion Davis had suffered severe head and abdominal injuries, a direct result of blunt force trauma.
Rogers is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on December 10.
