It's been a long 7 months for Rick Miller, winning the NewsChannel 7 Golf Senior Classic to complete his journey.
Miller started Friday three shots off the lead. He still trailed by one after 9-holes. But at the end of the day, he was able to complete the comeback by winning his third Senior Classic in 5 years with a two day total of 148. He also won in 2010 and 2012.
Back in December, Miller was diagnosed with non-hodgkin lymphoma. They thought he had maybe 3-1/2 months to live. He was still in the hospital when his entry form was sent in for this weekend. But he got treated in time, and 10 days ago was declared in full remission. The goal wasn't to win at Stevens Point Country Club, but just make it there to play. He did both.
Bryan Laszinski finished one shot back of Miller with a 149. Defending champ Joe Mertens was third with a 150.
Miller will also me among the 130+ golfers who will play in this weekend's Classic, which he won in 2011.
