The City of Merrill is welcoming the newest member to its police force.

Eros is the city's first K-9 officer. The dog was paid for with help from the Bierman Family Foundation.

Eros was sworn in before the City Council Tuesday night. He is trained not only to help the city seek out drugs but also assist in tracking missing persons cases.

"In the short time that I've had him we have already developed a bond that is only going to strengthen over time. Everybody in the department enjoys him. He loves meeting the other people anf getting the attention and stuff," says Merrill Police Officer Matt Draebek.

Eros has so far led the department to 8 finds since starting on May 12th.
