The Memorial Day weekend is always one of the busiest tourism weekends of the entire year for communities across The Northwoods.
The Minocqua Chamber of Commerce says many restaurants and businesses across the area saw more visitors than normal. Many hotels were booked throughout the region. The lakes were also extremely busy with boaters and those looking to enjoy some fun in the sun. The Chamber attributes the rise in visitors largely to the weather.
“It was the first stretch of weather that we had that was really nice for three days in a row. It was very busy, people were looking to get here, get outside, enjoy the water and just enjoy The Northwoods." Says Chamber Director Kim Baltus.
Baltus says she expects the rest of the summer to be very strong in terms of tourism numbers.
