Chief Jeremy Hunt may be relatively new to the chief position at the Rothschild Police Department, but he is not new to the force, he's been there for 17 and a half years.
Being raised in the area, Chief Hunt said he joined the force because he wanted a job where each day would be a surprise. He was also drawn to the profession so he could be a part of, and help out his community. Now, he's trying to stop crime before it happens.
"I think being proactive in law enforcement is always the biggest hurdle," said Chief Hunt, "what we want to do is protect everybody from being a victim of a crime, so our goal here at Rothschild is to be a proactive police department, part of being proactive is traffic enforcement."
Chief Hunt said many times, residents will just stop by and ask a question, or talk about about a possible scam with officers.
