Medical College Of Wisconsin Selects Sights
Medical College of Wisconsin is moving forward with plans to locate their Central Wisconsin education program in Wausau, with aspects of the program reaching throughout Central Wisconsin.. Classrooms and Offices would be located at the Liberty Mutual Building #1, with some student services and support also located at UW-Marathon County. The Wauwatosa-based Medical College plans to open the new campus by 2015.
The College plans to negotiate with Northcentral Technical College in Wausau for space designated for learning laboratories and a clinical simulation center. MCW also plans to explore training opportunities at the UW-Madison physician assistant training program at UW-Marathon County, at Marshfield Clinic's proposed School of Dentistry, and at UW-Eau Claire's Doctor of Nursing Practice Program.
Duane L. Erwin, President and CEO of Aspirus Hospital says, "I think this is really exciting news for the region.”
Faculty members will be selected from UW-Stevens Point, UW-Marathon County, UW-Marshfield/Wood County, and NTC.
Aspirus, Ministry Health Care, Marshfield Clinic, and other health providers in the area will provide clinical education for the program.
The estimated cost to develop the program is $11-12 million for each region.
The College also announced its Green Bay-area facility will have classrooms, offices, and labs at St. Norbert's planned new science building. It will also have a clinical simulation center at Bellin College in Green Bay.
