A 54-year-old Marshfield man will spend 10 years in federal prison, followed by 30 years of supervised release for possessing child pornography.
Pearson pleaded guilty to this charge on November 25, 2013.
On March 18, 2013, an undercover officer in the Marshfield Police Department downloaded 831 images of child pornography from a computer traced to Pearson’s address.
A search warrant revealed that Pearson possessed almost 3,000 images of child pornography on his computer and cell phone.
Pearson was subject to a 10-year mandatory minimum sentence for possession of child pornography due to prior convictions for attempted second degree sexual assault and fourth degree sexual assault in La Crosse County.
Pearson also had two prior Sex Offender Registry violation convictions from South Carolina.

A 53-year-old Marshfield man is expected to be charged with seven counts of possessing child pornography.
Court document show a detective discovered naked photos of girls that appeared to be under the age of 13 on a cellphone belonging to James Pearson.
According to the criminal complaint the photos were downloaded from the internet.
Online court records list the offense dates as March 18.
