The Executive Director of Marshfield Clinic, Dr. Brian Ewert, tells NewsChannel 7 it's planning to cut between 80 and 100 jobs system-wide as part of an effort to save about $20 million dollars.
The cuts affect one to two percent of its 8,000 person workforce in 50 locations.
"This is part of national trends where healthcare grew to approximately 20% of the gross domestic product and taxpayers, businesses and households have let us know that's about as far as it will go. So, we'll need to continue to deliver services to patients and communities within that societal budget," said Dr. Ewert.
Employees were notified of the cuts in an email that was sent out yesterday.
