A 50-year-old Marshfield woman charged with theft in a business setting after she's accused of fraudulently using a church's credit card for personal purchases.
According to court documents, an investigation began in November 2013 after the pastor at Faith Lutheran Church in Marshfield noticed suspicious activity on the church's credit card.
Investigators discovered the unauthorized purchases dated back to April 15, 2011. According to the criminal complaint the church had been deprived of $22,251.66.
The pastor told Police the card had been kept in the desk of a church employee. Police questioned the employee, Renee Thompson.
Thompson admitted to using the credit card for groceries and to buy pre-paid credit cards.
Surveillance video from Festival Foods and Pick n Save reportedly shows Thompson making the fraudulent purchases.
Thompson is free on $10,000 signature bond.
