Two people are now in custody in connection to at least two armed robberies in Marathon County. Police say two other men wanted for questioning are still at large; Ademus Saechao, also known as Kung fu Panda, and Abraham Robertson, also known as Castro. Police think Saechao could be in the Wausau or Milwaukee areas and Robertson may be in Madison or North Carolina.
"Some are connected to the incidents in other jurisdictions, as well as our incidents that we have," Lt. Greg Bean with the Marathon County Sheriff's Department said Friday. "We're still in the process of putting each individual in a certain location. And that's what's taking some time."
Mariano Valera, 25, and another man are behind bars in Marathon County.
Valera made his initial appearance in court Friday. He faces two counts of armed robbery and one count of armed burglary.
Three other men appeared in court Friday in connection with an armed home invasion in the Town of Norrie just outside of Wausau in the beginning of August. Two of those men have also been linked to the Hardee's hold-up last month.
Sheriff's deputies say Valera was arrested during a traffic stop in Schofield Wednesday afternoon.
Lt. Dale Wisnewski of the Marathon County Sheriff's Department says two men wearing masks and hoodies entered through a back door at Piggy's Pub in the Town of Marathon early Wednesday morning, when the bartender and his girlfriend were closing up. One of the suspects was carrying a small, silver handgun.
When one of the men opened the cash register, an noise startled the robbers and the man with the gun fled.
That's when the bar's owner attacked the unarmed robber, smashing him in the head with a wine bottle and removing his mask.
"The owner was at least able to remove the mask and get a view of the individual and a brief description. The robber then tried to run away, at which point the owner threw the wine bottle at the individual, striking him and knocking him to the ground, but he was able to get up and get out the door", said Wisnewski.
Lt. Wisnewski says, the robbers got away with money from the cash register and a woman's purse.
Piggy's Pub is formerly known as the Shang Garden Bar.
